Length of time hosted by this company : More than 3 years
Overall Rating : 2 out of 5
Reliability : 3 out of 5
Support : 1 out of 5
Pricing : 3 out of 5
Verdict : I have to give a very bad review for this hosting company.

At first it all seemed just fine. Good amount of features, relatively fast. But it went downhill from there.

First we had some downtimes. Of more than 24 hours. Then, suddenly, we lost all our data, and were reverted to 24 hour old backup. We didn't even receive an apology. That same thing happened second time after a year or so. Downtimes continued.

They kept breaking our site which strange changes to their apache/php configs. Like installing some weird protection scripts, and so on.

The support was rude, and VERY unhelpful. They would ignore, provide arrogant and inadequate responses. They even deleted complaints from their forum.

We're trying to move from them as soon as possible..

Length of time hosted by this company : 1 - 6 months
Overall Rating : 4 out of 5
Reliability : 4 out of 5
Support : 5 out of 5

Verdict : I moved over to UKHost4u from a really bad host and started on a small package as I was weary, as I normally am with every host I use.
After a month with them I was really happy with the uptime and support I received specially when it came through that I needed to bring a very large database over to them. They helped with the smooth transfer over. I have recently upgraded to one of there top packages being as I am running a community with over 1000 members and still no problems. I had one bit of downtime which lasted probably a few minutes, I put a ticket in and by the time I had sent it, it was back up. No problems. Top Host!

Date Submitted : June 2nd, 2006
Length of time hosted by this company : 1 - 6 months
Overall Rating : 1 out of 5
Reliability : 1 out of 5

Pricing : 3 out of 5
Verdict : Very poor service. Signed up in March 2006 and in that time my website was offline for 2 periods of approx 1 week each. The first was after they got hacked - the hacker replaced my main index.html with one of his own. I found out only by chance while checking my website - I was NOT informed by the company. Second time was after a hardware failure at their end - backup drive also failed. No notification again from them - and by the time I checked my website almost a week had passed. I was pointed to a post on their forum (which I didn’t even know existed) stating that I would have to get in touch with them giving all my initial sign up details to enable them to re-create my account. At this time I moved my website to another hosting company. My attempts to cancel my service with UKHOST4U were met in a rather blunt manner – I requested a refund of the time outstanding on the account (approx 9-10 months), but the company do not seem to care about unhappy customers hence I am being forced to take the matter up with my credit card company. To make it all worse I even paid the extra £4.95 for the 24 hour service agreement. All in all a very unhappy customer.

Date Submitted : May 21st, 2006
Length of time hosted by this company : Less than 1 month
Overall Rating : 2 out of 5
Reliability : 5 out of 5
Support : 1 out of 5
Pricing : 2 out of 5
Verdict : I tried to sign up for this site, but was very disappointed with their initial service. Firstly, their site advertises one price, and then you find extras. It was only when I got through the order system to the final page that I found the first mention of an extra cost for Windows hosting (obviously hoping you'll just accept it, as I did). Then you get to the payment on Paypal, and that is the first mention of VAT(except int he small print of T&C). So the advertised cost of £40 became over £58!

I would have let this lie, but when I emailed sales to explain why I did not wish to continue with my order(in a reasonable manner), I received a very sarcastic and patronising response. THis left me with quite a sour taste, a point which others who I showed the email to agreed with. Therefore, rather than letting it lie I am lead to comment on this on review sites like this. Not impressed!

I have left a 5 out of 5 for reliability as it would be wrong for me to comment on something I had no experience of.

Verdict : I don't know for bpweb.net. I have used ukhost4u. Avoid at ALL cost.

They suspended my account for 2 days without any warning and without being able to point at any irregularity I had commited. My understanding was that the problem was only the success of my website that was putting too much strain on their server. This was despite the fact I had a business account... and that I had at the time only about 100 users a day, a ridiculous number for a business account.

I really wasn't happy about that coming on top of other problems I had had with them. I paid for a new hosting, moved the files, arranged redirection, asked ukhost4u to facilitate the transfer of my domain to the new host. They didn't unlock my domain. What they did was to withdraw some more money from my account, automatically, without any warning. Automatic renewal of contract. I made them know that I didn't want to remain their client. They adopted a completely unhelpful mode of communication. What could be arranged in a single day lasted over weeks.

The best part is that they automatically renewed my accounts, but I didn't have access to the conditions advertised on their website. They advertised 3GB, I only had access to 1GB on an old server of them. When I asked to be moved, they told me no. Their point of view is that I had renewed my old account, so my conditions would forever remain the same as when I signed initially...

Granted, they have a good deal... but my experience is that you end up paying a lot more in terms of time, money, and problems. They are *completely* unsupportive. In case of problems, they put the blame on the user (at least that's what they did for me). I have had with them some of the most absurd communication ever seen. Based on the discussions I had with them when they suspended my account, I got the impression that technically speaking, they are not very competent either. They are using an excellent cPanel system... but one day I had a problem with a cPanel default script and when I signaled it I received no answer other than I had to wait for them to receive a patch from the cPanel group, as if they were not really much in control.

In short, AVOID. They really didn't make a good impression on me.

Verdict : Altogether a good host, a few moments of downtime but it was quickly back up again.

Had to pay for a whole years worth of hosting to get a free domain, which is now registered in their name, not mine.

Except for that a good hosting company.
