I have been with Oktagone since 2003. I decided to go with this company mainly because of their good prices. For the first year and a half there was not a lot of significant down time. However, since the beginning of 2005 I have never been more frustrated with a company in my entire life. As others have mentioned, Oktagone decided not to pay their bills and their customers suffered. I have two websites hosted through Oktagone for different clients. I have emailed Oktagone OVER 15 TIMES and have never received anything but an automated response telling me my email will be responded to within 2-3 business days (something like that). I have prepaid for my hosting for both sites until the end of 2005. They were giving customers the option of moving to their Australian network, or taking total control of their own domain name. I sent an email notifying Greg Macsok (the CEO) that I would like to be moved to the Australian network, because I needed to have the sites up as soon as possible. Not once did I receive a response to this request. Now, I have no choice but to request full ownership of my domains, and I am going through the same process.
DO NOT...I repeat DO NOT use this company at all! If this website allowed, I would have given it 0 out of 5!!!!!

Oktagone are an appaling webhost.
Back before they became big they were fine, but that was years ago. Towards the end of 2004 they went downhill. Things finally got to their worst when in 2005 the owner Greg failed to pay the bills to Ezzi, who hosted his US customers. Ezzi shut down all the servers; it took Greg a week to even do anything about this and when he did he was arrogant, blaming Ezzi. Not only that, but sabotaging his router to prevent customers from backing up data when Ezzi kindly put them back online for a few days so customers could retrieve data.
The US hosting was shut down and users who wanted to move were moved to Oktagone's own datacenter in Australia. This datacenter had a slow connection and was not even finished (leading to more periodic downtime).
Finally, Oktagone decided to close after a DDoS attack took them offline for a day. All shared hosting was terminated (no refunds). Thus far, no customers that I know have been contacted by Oktagone to tell them this (I found out by chance and moved - with only ftp access at the time, as cpanel wasn't working). Now a week later Oktagone has re-launched (again), still with no explanations to old customers.
Do not trust this host. Oktagone have chosen to stay in bussiness, considering how many customers they have lost, this is a very bad idea for them and you should expect them to go down yet again soon. |

This is the WORST organization (really just one person named Greg! I have had more than 50% outage in the past 6 weeks since I started using this serviceOR NON-SERVICE). Absolutely NO responses to my emails. Several friends also setup their website at the first of the year with this guy and now WE ARE ALL DOWN!. He has lied about the situation on other forums. He has pulled out of the US and is only operating out of Australia. He should feel at home living in a country that was originally designed to be an Island prison! DO NOT...I REPEAT...DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! |

Oh My Gosh, I DO NOT reccommend Oktagone to ANYONE!! I had heard such great things about them, and loved the pricing so i decided to give it a try, first i bought it through pay pal and there was an error and they emailed me asking me to resign up and that they would CANCEL the previous order so I WOULDN'T be charged TWICE! Lies. My first bill was 15.99 x2. And it didnt stop there, my second bill was double charges as well! And then three days after I was double charged for my second month i receive an email saying that they're hosting is COMPLETELY down and that they owe all this money and blah blah...so i'm cancelling. Asking/Demanding reimbursment...DO NOT USE OKTAGONE!

Absolutely pathetic is the only thing you can say about this operation. Initially I didn't have any major problems, but their server went down and I had no access to my site for nearly 4 days. I emailed their tech support for 4 days without a response - no explanation! I think they actually blocked my email address !!
I have no idea how these guys continue to operate if this is how they think they can treat people. I paid for one year and am now trying to redelegate the site - only problem is Oktagone have my domain server information and won't email it to me.

Really cheap considering how big their packages are (30gb/month transfer, $5/month?!)
Only gripe is that at the beginning of the year, I had some slighty problems with server downtime, not so much down for hours as just being unreponsive or really slow for a few minutes. Things seemed to clear up after they moved their servers, but I was given little notice of the move (and its resulting intermittant service), which forces me to lower their customer service ratings a bit.
The past 6 months, though, have been excellent, and based off that I would recommend them. |
