If you are looking for CF Hosting, then HostTone is the place to go. They have incredible pricing and support for a Cold Fusion Host. For anyone that has tried looking for a CF host, most of them limit your tag usage or won't offer multiple domain accounts. HostTone offers the full range of tags as well as a CF reseller account.
Overall their support is great, they return emails promptly and always include the correct information. The one downside to their support is that English is not their first language, so sometimes you have to fight through some of the language issues to fully understand the email.
Uptime has been excellent, there has been no significant downtimes but you will get 1-2 reboots a day. Which means your site will not be reachable for about 3 minutes total, which is acceptable because it is really the only downtime you will have. Why the reboots? The main reason is a shared CF server, which can be clogged up fairly quickly. CF wasn't made for mass amounts of sites per server so there are a few issues there, but overall it hasn't been a big issue.
Speed, the speed has been about average, I would give it about a 3.5 out of 5. As I mentioned with the uptime, when you have a lot of sites (30-40) all running CF code on the same server, the CF engine can get a bit bogged down from time to time. But overall there has never been an instance where I have received complaints from clients regarding speed or uptime, but it is noticeable from time to time.
I wouldn't recommend them for basic ASP/PHP hosting because I wouldn't want to run websites with those server side scripting languages on the same box as Cold Fusion. But if you are looking for a CF host, I have yet to find one with better pricing and support. |
