You want cheap hosting? Globe is the cheapest and also, big surprise, one of the least reliable choices. I host eight websites on Globe Domain's server named Titanium. Seven of these sites I own personally and one I administrate for a client. Before Accunet took over Globe Domain I would have recommended Globe Domain to anyone primarily because of the amazing reliability for the low price. I moved one site to Globe first and was pleased. Then I gradually moved more there. Then Accunet bought out the previous owners. While the price is UNBEATBABLE for hosting 5 domains for $36 a YEAR using a reseller account (click the reseller link on their homepage) you are trading off reliability. The reason I am here posting is my sites are down right now. This is nothing unusual at all. The last time they were down for several hours and when restored I could not FTP into any of my accounts. This FTP issue took over four days to rectify via their support forum/ticket system because they kept replying that the sites were up and we can see them while I kept saying that I could not FTP into any of them. I'm not sure these people even knew what I meant. Thankfully the support system is not hosted on the Titanium server where my sites live. Only rarely is the support ticket forum also down when my sites are, but right now everything seems down including support. If you are willing to sacrifice frequent outages with the slowest and least helpful support I've ever seen in order to save the bucks then this is the host for YOU! Two guys, one named Alex and another named Ron and the only support people who seem to be able to get anything done there. Even the two of them have not been able to resolve one ongoing FrontPage issue that first started 18 months ago, so I've given up on it. Previously I was paying $36 a month for three sites on another host. Now I'm now paying $36 a year to Globe to host eight sites, so I put up with these issues. It is cheap and like most things you get your money's worth. If you have a REAL business and need a rock solid 100% reliable blazing webhost with perky support then you should not even consider Globe Domain as an option. For hobby type stuff, ONLY if you are semi-knowledgeable and don't need much support, then Globe Domain is fine. You sure can't beat the price.
1. Server is really slow.
2. Customer service never responded to my 2 basic questions.
3. There is no real way of contacting them (no email / phone).
4. Account was "pending" for several days with no indication a reason why
5. Spend a little more and go with a different host.
I've been through a lot of hosts, I just wish I'd sound this one first. Just look at the price plans and you'll know what I mean, unbelievable value. And it comes with so many features not mentioned, you really get the feeling that they want the best for their customers.
The catch? Well it isn't really a catch but (especially since the Accunet takeover) they have a bit too much downtime for my liking. On many occasions either my databases disappear and need to ask for them to be put back, or everything goes down. I hope this improves.
But whenever their are problems I can't knock the support, usually instant feedback which is much appreciated. The only small drawback here is when everything is down, hence the support forums are down too.
Small snags aside, I can highly recommend this host and I'm not aware of a better one. 10/10.
Globe Domain was bought out by Accunet a few months ago this year (2005) and their service has plummeted. The website used to have very high quality service at an extremely competitive price. I used to write to the customer service people all the time to thank them for their speedy responses and knowledgeable help.
Now, despite the move to a supposedly better server, the hosting has been spotty. I've had my website completely down on 4 separate occasions since Accunet took over. The customer service contact on the website was disabled at those times! There was no warning about the drop out in service.
The two times I emailed them with problems about the account (a folder in the setup disappearing, or problems with logging onto the site) the responses have been downright hostile. Despite our emailing them a receipt, they replied that our account didn't exist, and afterwards we only got an auto-reply stating "This ticket has been resolved." This was totally ridiculous, and in fact, a few days later we were able to log onto the site with our previous id and password. Furthermore, customer service didn't seem to have a clue as to the set up of the folders on the site.
I CANNOT recommend Globe Domain any longer, though unfortunately I had recommended them earlier to my friends. I am sad to see that the dedicated team that owned this company before is gone. The customer service now is unprofessional, their responses are angry and downright hostile.
Very Fast and help ful in customer support. I had my site hosted on www.vizhost.com and had very average experience with them but then when I switched hosting service there has been no problem and had some minor and were removed instantly. As there good support is hosting second site with them www.globaldevelopers.net.
