This is an update to my review that I posted here about 1 year ago.
One year later, I continue to host sites using Geekhosting. I find that their hosting is still very good. Their online support is great. Whenever I have a question and/or problem, they've responded promptly to me in a polite and helpful manner. Their service is quite reliable in my opinion. Any downtime has been very short in duration. If you look at their online stats, it's excellent (99.6%) I feel that what they offer nicely meets my needs (Mini-geek plus package), and is affordable for what I get in return. Based on all of the above, I continue to recommend Geekhosting to my friends.
I am in no way, shape or form associated with Geekhosting other than I am a satisfied client.

I thought I had made a mistake purchasing hosting from geekhosting after I had read the postings here but six months later all is fine. They had a few issues early but I got plenty of attention and a promise to refund my money if I was not happy but that wasnt necessary. They usually respond within out 24hrs to problems and there is rarely any downtime, no more than any other service I have used. So I would say that they have resolved management issues and now have a decent afforadable service. Recommended. |

I am an experienced user hosting web sites. I use very simple Front Page web site. I could not get my web site published. The help support was absolutely worthless. I tried repeatedly to get simple instructions. Geekhosting should be shut down. Its owners banned from the net. |

Worst web host ever... Can't keep their servers up for a consecutive 24 hour period. Very rude and pushy support, when you can get them on the phone, which is hardly ever. They operate under the name "Nine Dot Systems" as well. I have had countless troubles with this hosting company (it's an absolute travesty to even call them a hosting company). They constantly change presets on your account without notice, and apparently, complete disregard. My sites were also "banned" for exceeding the load on the outgoing SMTP server, even though I never actually went over the limit that they had set for me. My sites were down just long enough to cost me $1000 in wasted AdWords clicks, and all they had to say was, "What do you want us to do about it?". They never seem to be aware of any problems, and I suspect I know a heck of a lot more about administering servers than they do. It's been years since someone's futile attempt to run a business has caused me more grief, trouble, and downright frustration than these crooks have. I am a web marketing professional for a major corporation, and I would like to beg and plead anyone who's serious about using the web for business purposes to steer as clear as you can from these jokers. The price is what's enticing, but remember, you get what you pay for, and in this case, even less. This company can't continue much longer with this type of business practices, but if it does, stay as far away as possible.
Once again, NEVER host your site with Geekhosting or NineDotSystems if you care about your web presence! |

Overall rating for host 1 of 5 because they are the worst hosting company i have ever experiences. Outages are almost everyday, server= slow! remember that 5 minute to load times when we were on 56k? well this is what you get with them! Customer support 1 out of 5 HORRIBLE JUST HORRIBLE!!! They respond but THEY ARE NO HELP! and if they cant fix it the "connection" gets lost. Pricing: CHEAP BUT NOT WORTH IT!! Go buy yourself some more kitchen napkins ... you get more satsifaction with that money! Reliability ! : IF I could put 0 out of 5 or even -1000 that would be it. DO NOT CHOOSE GEEKHOSTING!! HORRIBLE NEVER EVER WANT TO HOST ANOTHER WEBSITE WITH THEM!!! |

I rated this company previously. At the time, we had great service. Since then (the last 6 months) the company has deteriorated to be almost unusuable. Clients signed up for hosting and never received confirmation. Tech support was unavailable for weeks at a time. Emails were not answered. Sites went down, often for hours and even days. When I did contact tech support, they denied all problems and blamed it on my end. They continue to do this to this day. Many of my clients were sold to Siteocity without our knowledge. We had particular problems with one tech named Ryan. When we complained about service, he did not apologize or offer to fix the problems, but instead threatened to throw my clients off the server! Horrible, terrible, nasty bad support and lousy service all around. Why isn' t there a 0 on your rating scale? |

I host 2 sites using Geekhosting (mini-geek-plus package). I am not affiliated with them in anyway other than I'm a satisfied customer. They signed me up within a few hours of applying, and I was online within the day getting my sites online with them. I like their Cpanel with bundled scripts and other offerings. Their email server works fine. Their hosting servers are fast...great ping times. Their servers seem quite reliable (thus far).
I feel that the new owners (Ninedotsystems) are making a strong effort to improve Geekhosting from what once was with the previous owner. Their communications to customers is now good. You can read their customer notices here: http://support.ninedotsystems.com/index.php?_m=news&_a=view

I hosted with Geekhosting from January of 2004- January of 2005.
They won't respond to support requests, and continued to charge me after I had already tried to cancel my service 8 months before. Eventually had to cancel my credit card to prevent billing...
I am currently pursuing legal action against the original owners. At some point (Jan. 2005), the company was bought out by someone else, but now, if you contact them, they claim to be the original owners. There is absolutely no way to contact these people about problems of any kind... Their e-mails end in dead ends, their own phone number has a generic message, and they are owned by someone who lives in Greece. Somehow, ther were once connected to a company called "Clariva" which is also based in Greece. Overall, this is a total scam operation!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

I actually don't have my own site hosted on Geekhosting, but have had numerous (10+ ) clients hosted with them. I ahve had very few problems and those few have been resolved quickly. The prices are fantastic, especially their hosting package with shared Security Certificate. I put together an entire online store with osCommerce carts for $50. My one suggestion - they need to have a phone # somewhere as some of my clients still have dial up and can't use their support while looking at their site. |

Frequent outages and lack of customer support. They changed management or ownership at some point in the last year, and I only was aware of it when they sent me a request to transfer my data to another server system. Since that time they have reduced quality of service; the pricing has gone up, there is no functional help (javascript pop-up either does not work properly or they simply do not respond.)
Rather than billing me and continuing my service, they cut me off I got no response from any of the help/customer service/or admin addresses I emailed.
The price is really average for what they say they offer, but seems exorbitant for all of the problems I have had. |

I used Geekhosting for 1 year. Their support response and resolution of problems is usually within 1 day, by email. I recommend this for the beginner webster who doesn't have to have fantastic reliability. I've experienced multiple down times. When I get Outlook email errors for that domain, I know it's down - but not for more than a couple of hours that I can tell and it's happened maybe 7 times? Two or three of those times I've had to contact support because it lasted longer. But it was resolved very quickly. |
